Acceptable entries include:

  • Novels
  • Non-fiction
  • Plays
  • Graphic Novels and comics
  • Book proposals or pitches (fiction or non-fiction)
  • Short stories

Submission Requirements:

– A brief synopsis of the story. No length requirement, but 1-3 pages is typical. Please note this is required for all entries.

– In addition, for novels, novellas, and other full-length or in-progress books, we’ll accept up to approximately the first 5,000 words. For plays, graphic novels, proposals, and short stories, the complete manuscript may be submitted.

*Materials may be uploaded during registration, OR sent as an attachment to entry@bookpipeline.com after registration. Registrants will receive a confirmation email with further info and instructions.

Criteria & Review: All entries are judged on the basis of concept originality, writing ability, and primarily the property’s viability as a film or television series. Judges will consist of Script Pipeline executives and the supporting management/production companies in the latter rounds of review.

Every entrant will receive brief, general feedback on their submission, specifically on the material’s adaptation potential, once results have been announced. Comments are sent direct via email after final judging is completed in April 2017.

Details:

– Material may be published or unpublished; if published, the film AND television rights must be available

– Writers selected for the final rounds of judging may submit their full novel for review, if available. However, the final decisions will not hinge on a writer having the completed manuscript. Our primary concerns are the overall pitch and story synopsis in addition to the sample chapters to determine writing ability.

– Supplemental materials (illustrations, character bios, etc.) are optional but acceptable.
